-What is a Family Reunion in Tuscany?-
A family reunion is an occasion when many members of an extended family congregate. In recent years, travel has been democratized by record low fares and sharing economy solutions, making this kind of gathering even more convenient. For this reason, our clients have chosen Tuscany to meet their loved ones. In our region, it’s easy to find wonderful Villas with large gardens, swimming pools, and stunning views within a 1-hour drive from Lucca, Siena, or Florence.
How does a photoshoot work?
Most of the time, we meet the families at their venue, and we stay within the property. Usually, we start with some posed portraits, involving everyone. Then, besides these hang-on-your-wall-worthy photos, we dedicate ourselves to different smaller combinations.
Since 2012, we had the opportunity to photograph several family reunions, and it’s great to see so many different cultures. While children and teenagers have more things in common, we especially loved to relate to older generations.
Many of these families have Italian origins, and their trip is also a journey back in time to reconnect with their roots.
Different families, different outfits
What to wear for family photos?
There are many aspects to keep in mind when deciding what to wear for your family photos. Of course, the most important part of your family portrait is to document the love that you feel for each other. These family photo outfit ideas below will give you some examples of how our former clients dressed, but please keep in mind that each family is different – and each family member has his character. Therefore, we’re here to help you with a few basic suggestions, but it’s essential that you feel comfortable: if you feel good, you will look good!
Very large groups
Having a great family portrait is going to be important to your history and future memories. For this reason, our package for this kind of session always includes two photographers, so big numbers are not a problem for us. Throughout these years, as you can see below, we’ve had the chance to work with large, sometimes very large groups. At the biggest family reunion that we photographed, about 50 people were invited, and it was a fun challenge to find the right location for their shot!
Anniversary and birthday celebrations
Very often, a family reunion in Tuscany is planned for a special occasion. In this photoshoot, for instance, two sisters celebrated their mom’s 70th birthday and their parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Oh, and the grandparents are gonna love these pics – and the kids too.
Fun moments for all the family
Then besides the large family groups, we usually gather immediate family from each branch of the tree. We also love to take parents and children portraits, and grandparents with grandchildren. Considering that we’re working on separate groups, there’s always a moment to relax and take a break.
A family reunion photoshoot is a funny way to spend an afternoon together, sharing beautiful moments and lots of laughs. Staying outdoors, enjoying the Tuscan sun, or jumping in the pool.

And their kind words
"We had a wonderful photo shoot with MeDisProject Photography. The energy and talent they brought to our multi-generational family photo shoot was wonderful. Now that we are almost a year past our family trip, the photos bring us right back to that special family vacation. It was a great investment and we recommend them highly."
"Matteo and Dovile were wonderful to work with during our family photo shoot. We spent a week in Italy to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and now have beautiful photos of a special family holiday. Highly recommend"
"By far, one of the best photography teams we have ever used! We hired MeDisProject Photography in September 2014 for our 5th wedding anniversary celebration. Matteo and Dovile are a very friendly and approachable team, and are open to listening to what you want them to capture on film. They seamlessly blended into our party without making anyone feel uncomfortable or put on the spot, and took spontaneous as well as staged photos. We were excited to receive the photos, and when they arrived on schedule, they were even better than we had anticipated! The photos Matteo and Dovile took were absolutely incredible! They perfectly captured the mood of our party, and the emotions we were experiencing. The level of quality in the lighting and post op processing is fantastic. Every time we look through the photos, it feels like we have been transported back to the center of the party again. We will definitely use MeDisProject Photography again. Thank you so much for your excellent work!"
"If you are in Italy and wanted someone to document your moment, look no further. Matteo & Dovilė are just awesome photographers. Thanks for the session and all the travel recommendations "
"They are so kind to work with and the pictures turned out beautifully! We were a multi-generation family on vacation in Tuscany celebrating my parents’ 40th anniversary. Matteo helped us all feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. Not only did they capture this special experience for us with each family member beautifully represented, but they also captured the stunning scenery of the locations and backdrops of the village architecture and natural landscapes of Tuscany. So what we have is truly art. The price they charge is a tremendous value for the quality they deliver. The MeDisProject’s online sharing portal also makes it easy to share the pictures with family members, to download images, and to purchase prints from whichever printer you prefer. Highly recommend!"
"Matteo and Dovile are absolutely wonderful. I found them online while searching for photographers in Tuscany that could take pictures for our daughters 2nd birthday. They met us where we were staying in Lucca and are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. The pictures they took are stunning and are such a great treasure to have from our vacation. I highly recommend them and I wish we lived closer so we could use them again!"
