Our favorite locations for a photo shoot in Tuscany
A photoshoot in Florence and the countryside
“We’re going to visit Tuscany, and we’d love a photo session both in Florence and the countryside. Can you share your recommended places?” That is one of the most common questions our clients ask, whether they’re couples or families. For this reason, we decided to write this blog post. Here you’re going to find a selection of our previous photo sessions and additional information for your upcoming photoshoot in Italy.
Choosing your starting point
The starting point of your photo session depends on many factors:
- where is your hotel/apartment/villa?
- Does it have a garden or a private area where we could take photos?
- What time of the year you’re going to visit?
- Your scheduled plan (for instance, a dinner, or some other activity that you already booked or want to book)
Feel free to write us this information while you contact us. The more you’ll provide, the easier it will be to help you plan your session according to your schedule.
Do you have a car?
Are you planning to hire a car during your visit? That’s going to be essential if you’re planning to move outside town. Even though we’re not offering this kind of service directly, we’re used to guiding our clients with our car through the sometimes busy streets of Florence. If you don’t feel comfortable renting a car here, you can contact a private driver that’s going to bring you wherever you prefer. For instance, this couple hired a chauffeur to take them from the panoramic point in Florence to Certaldo Alto.
How far can you go?
When we organize this kind of session, we generally recommend choosing locations within a 45 minutes/1 hour drive. Taking photos is an already intense experience. Unless you and your partner (or your family members) are all very motivated, such a long trip could be tiring you out. Luckily, we know many beautiful spots within that range, so there are still many choices, even if we begin your session in Florence.
Florence: a panoramic spot
For the same reason, in Florence, we usually recommend shooting at a scenic spot. Not only shooting downtown is time-consuming, but it adds the stress and the cost of driving and finding a parking lot in the city center. Picturesque locations like Piazzale Michelangelo or the San Miniato Church are convenient for parking your car and for the strategic position. There, we can easily spend 1-hour shooting with different backdrops and then have an easy way out of town. That’s a great solution also for larger family groups like this one.
Sunset with a view
Otherwise, if you’re staying in the countryside, we could consider starting directly from your venue. We could shoot in the surroundings and plan a custom route that could finish with the sunset, at the panoramic place in Florence. This couple, for instance, chose to start at the picturesque hamlet of Barberino Val d’Elsa. That little town is quite close to the Tuscan capital, and lovely vineyards and olive groves surround it.
Flexibility & Creativity
Our story and expertise taught us to be flexible and creative. Every session that we published on this website was tailor-made, and that’s the funniest part for us. We love to meet different people and find new exciting ways to show them our beautiful region. Please don’t be afraid to contact us and tell your story and craziest requests, because that’s how the most exciting sessions are born. A couple contacted almost last minute, and then took us on a hot air balloon ride to take their photos. Another guy asked us to help him with his surprise marriage proposal in a Tuscan castle.
